Division Street Turns into Bourbon Street for Mardi Gras in Chicago
Local Favorite, TREATY OF PARIS, performs LIVE
(CHICAGO, IL) – Face it, it is damn cold in Chicago during the month of February. Frozen pipes and frozen toes can make it hard to get out for just any Mardi Gras event. Rest assured the folks on Division Street have the solution.
This Fat Tuesday, February 16, Division Street will turn into Bourbon Street as they have an offering unmatched outside of New Orleans, and speaking of New Orleans its all for a good cause, too. A portion of the nights proceeds will go to the New Orleans Musicians Clinic a cause devoted to preserving a national heritage of original music and helping musicians in need in that devastated area.
At Bootleggers starting at 7pm, down some Malibu Hurricanes, and keep the cup, because there are $3 refills! Bootleggers will also hold their annual “New Orleans Dance Off” for a chance to win tickets to the big show across the street at The Original Mother’s. Beads and booze will be flying across the bar in this New Orleans’ inspired, Chicago-style shindig.
Then it’s time to step across the street to The Original Mother’s for the band Treaty of Paris. Doors open at 8pm, the show starts at 9pm and tickets are only $10 and available online at www.RushAndDivision.com or at The Original Mother’s. Beads, beers ($4.50 Heineken, Heineken Light, and Amstel Light) and door prizes will be tossed out like yesterday’s trash.
Not into rock? No problem. Division Street’s got that covered, too. Over at She-nannigans House of Beer starting at 11pm it’s “Dance Hall Mardi Gras”! 80’s, 90’s and current dance music will be spun all night long. Spin the wheel of fortune for a chance at Blackhawks tickets, beads and other surprises, too. This is the party that lasts all night, and is the last stop for any serious Fat Tuesday-goer!
Also along the Division street, the BS Brass Band accompanied by street freaks and stilt walkers will deliver the authentic sounds of this special holiday while spreading the cheer and tossing out beads!
