WHAT:          Breast Cancer: Awareness to Action Health Summit where women will go through a series of five stations:  a Breast Health Education station, a Screening and Navigation station, an Aftercare station, a Risk Education/Prevention station and an Evaluation station.  Once all five stations have been visited, each attendee will be rewarded with a free manicure or chair massage. Breakfast or lunch will also be provided to attendees.

WHY:             There is a great disparity amongst African American women in Chicago in their ability to receive breast cancer education, screening and treatment services, especially on the Southside of Chicago. As a result it is estimated that two African American women die needlessly every week. The surrounding communities of Roseland, Pullman, West Pullman and Washington Heights have the highest rate of death from breast cancer in the nation. Area organizations have mobilized at this Summit to combat these grim statistics by providing breast health education and screening.
