MAHONEY’S PUB & GRILLE PRESENTS “BEARDS FOR BABIES”

A BEARD-A-THON TO BENEFIT THE MARCH OF DIMES

Show Support for the Blackhawks and Babies with a Playoff Beard!

(CHICAGO, IL) – It’s hockey playoff time, which means playoff beard time, and Mahoney’s Pub & Grille has decided to host an inaugural fundraiser they call “Beards for Babies”.  This beard-a-thon will be a fun-for-all to raise money for the March of Dimes [http://www.marchofdimes.com/], and both men and women are invited to participate.   The kickoff will begin on Sunday, April 11 at Mahoney’s from 1pm to 7pm, however, participants may retroactively register and participate any day at Mahoney’s, up to the end of the fundraiser, which will take place on the Sunday following the Blackhawks’ elimination or culmination in the playoffs.

At the kickoff event, photos will be taken of clean-shaven participants, both male and female, as they register, and registrants will sign a hockey puck to be placed on the Beards for Babies Wall of Fame.  Participants must agree to raise a minimum of $1 per day, including non-game days, starting Monday, April 12 until the end of the Blackhawks’ run in the playoffs.  The kickoff party on Sunday, April 11 will feature all-day drink specials of $4 Jameson, $4 Guinness, $4 Irish Car Bombs and half-priced menu items before 5pm.  There will also be a $30 for domestic draft and well package from 4pm to 7pm.

At each playoff game, participants should come to Mahoney’s to have their playoff beard photo taken to document the progress of the beard, and one hour prior to game time, there will be complimentary treats and discounts for participants, including free beard trims.  Additionally, every time a participant comes to Mahoney’s for a playoff game, they will be entered to win a party for the next game.

Participants should also raise pledges in order to fundraise the most money possible, as there will be prizes for the top three fundraisers, including Blackhawks jerseys and signed memorabilia. Prizes will also be awarded to Best and Most Creative Beards. Participants will be given pledge sheets when registering.  The March of Dimes will be present on collection day, the Sunday following the Blackhawks’ end in the playoffs to collect the funds raised.  Go Hawks!  Grow a beard for a baby!
