The Golden Vanity at The Original Mother’s
(Chicago, IL) – AquaVida, a Chicago-based non-profit organization which brings clean and safe drinking water to people of emergent nations, will host the “Concert for Clean Water” at The Original Mother’s, located at 26 West Division Street in Chicago on Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 7:30pm to 10:30pm.
The concert will feature alternative rock band The Golden Vanity [http://www.myspace.com/thegoldenvanity] performing live. All proceeds from the concert will support the construction of fresh-water wells in India and Haiti. Currently, about one billion people, worldwide lack access to clean and safe drinking water.
“Our goal for this concert is to increase awareness of the global water crisis,” said AquaVida founder Jason Gonzales. “We hope that concert guests will walk away inspired to get involved in eradicating this crisis, whether it’s through providing financial assistance or even traveling with us and helping with construction.”
Last December, with the help of local organizations and volunteers, AquaVida constructed a fresh-water well in Patna, India. AquaVida plans to extend its fresh-water well projects to Latin America in the near future.
A custom cocktail, the “Well Driller”, made of Hpnotiq, blueberry vodka and lemonade will be featured for $6. $1 of each cocktail sold will go directly to AquaVida. A $10 suggested donation to AquaVida, per person, is encouraged in lieu of admission at the door. All guests must be 21 years of age or older.
